Case Knives
Case knives began their long history of knife production in 1889 by William Russell, W.R. Case and his brothers Jean, John and Andrew. This enterprise started in upstate New York with the brothers selling their hand crafted knives out of the back of a wagon. In 1905 the company moved to Bradford PA, where it remains today, and was taken over by WR's son, JR who renamed the company W. R. Case and Sons. Today each Case knife is still handmade in the United States, with no production going overseas. Each knife goes through the hands of 125 different people in its manufacture, ensuring top quality of each and every knife. This allows the knives to be passed down from generation to generation. Each Case knife has a unique tang dating system, so collectors can find the date of manufacture of each knife. The Case Collectors Club is the largest, premier association of knife collectors around the world with a membership of over 18,000. There is a monthly publication and members are offered exclusive knives at different times of the year. This is a good organization to join if you are interested in collecting Case Knives. In addtion to the many handle choices, Case also offers a myriad of different patterns, such as the trapper, Texas Toothpick, Butterbean, Sod Buster, Baby Doc, Copper Lock, Muskrat, Hunting knives of all kinds, Fish fillet, Whittler, Pen knives, Eisenhower, Congress and many, many more. In starting a collection, some people start with a certain handle type, or a certain pattern of knife and then try to collect all of those. Other people like to try and collect one of each modern pattern, or each handle style. With all the different choices, the opportunities are endless for a nice collection. Case also produces strictly limited edition and holiday knives, along with specialty and commerative issues. So find what you like and enjoy collecting.
W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery has teamed together with Carhartt to present these Limited Edition knives.
